A senior official at RCB, the Marketing Head, was detained following the Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed several people.
Following the death of several people at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, police in Bengaluru have arrested Nikhil Sosale, the marketing head of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Fourteen people died and many more were hurt during the incident which took place on RCB’s victory day.
The officials stopped him at Kempegowda International Airport when he tried to board a flight to Mumbai. Mr. Shah is a part of the DNA Entertainment Networks team which arranges the event. Sosale was arrested along with another three officials of DNA Entertainment.
The arrests are due to an FIR that includes charges of culpable homicide and risks to public safety for RCB, DNA Entertainment Networks and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has imposed suspensions on Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand and senior officers because of their poor handling of crowd control and safety matters.
The government of Uttarakhand has given ₹10 lakh as support to each family who has lost a loved one and has promised to support medical treatment for those who were hurt. Authorities are still looking into the stampede to clarify its causes and to charge those responsible for what happened.
