The RCB Became the Champions for the First Time After a Long Wait

After a thrilling final in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs, making RCB the first IPL champions in franchise history. By winning, Royal Challengers Bangalore capture their first ever IPL title, after 18 years of waiting.
With the first innings after winning the toss, RCB hit 190/9 in the 20 overs. Central to their strong innings were good plays by top and middle order, with their skipper and middle order hitters also making major contributions. RCB kept the score going, making useful partnerships even as wickets fell regularly.

Punjab Kings kicked off their pursuit by having their openers play solidly. Yet, RCB’s bowlers showed great resilience in the middle phase by getting wickets and creating pressure. In the final over, PBKS were short by 7 runs and ended their innings with the score of 184/7.
RCB’s bowlers, particularly the ones who bowl in the last overs, were praised for maintaining calm under stress. The players made strong contributions in the field and their enthusiasm displayed their wish to win the championship.
This victory matters a lot to RCB, who have been to the final three times before but did not win. When they won, it brought great happiness to their loyal followers and it proved the critics wrong who had questioned if they could succeed in such matches.
Punjab Kings had already lost the IPL final once before which made their title drought longer. PBKS did not give up after the incident and ended up as serious contenders for the title.
