India's Test Squad for England Grows 18 to 19 as Report Hints at New Addition

 


India can now be a new face on their Test team in the next series that they are to play against England. A report says that fast bowler Harshit Rana has been inducted into the squad. In case he is confirmed he will be the 19th member in the team.

In three days, the first Test will start in Leeds. Gautam Gambhir coaches the Indian team now. The team would wish to consolidate its bowling squad. The 18 member squad which was announced on May 24 did not include the name of Rana.

The initial team has already have five fast bowlers. These are Jasprit Bumrah Mohammed Siraj Prasidh Krishna Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. Rana might become the six pacer.


The BCCI has not as yet issued an official comment over the addition of Rana. However according to sources speaking to the media, Rana is all set to remain behind with the Indian Test team. Whether he is going to be added officially before the first match on June 20 remains questionable though.

Rana was selected against the England Lions at Canterbury in the tour match. He claimed 1 wicket and gave away 99 runs and picked up 16 runs with the bat.


He has debuted as a cricketer in Australia in the test match last year. There he collected total of 4 wicks. At Perth he bowled his best figures of 3-48. In the initial list Rana did not get selected in the England series. However, his display in the recent matches could have caught the attention of the selectors.

Rana hails in New Delhi. He has already participated in 13 matches of the first-class. He has dismissed 48 wickets with an average of 27.79. He has also made the hundred and two fifties by the bat.

The England series will be headed by Shubman Gill in India. It is the initial Test series of their new world test championship cycle.

Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
